Who We Are
The Creator and Host
Frank Schumpert
When I was 15 years old, the History Channel had a special on the Ottoman siege of Constantinople. I remember a map of the Sublime Ottoman Porte flashing up on the screen.. and I've been hooked ever since.
This obsession with the past infected my bloodstream, and I chose Eurasian history as my major in college (it was as close to the Ottomans as I could get).
By day I'm a 8-5 office jock doing my best to act interested in investigative odds and ends. My true passion comes out after hours, I sit back with my Muse and together we commune with the Ottomans..

This is one of the most interesting podcasts I’ve come across- especially as this amount of detail just isn’t taught in school But the host voice is so pleasant and soothing it’s too easy to fall asleep to But I want the information. History in podcast format should be interesting!!
Very Educational and Entertaining.
This Podcast's exploration of the Ottomans is a fascinating journey through history. Frank’s blend of storytelling and scholarly insight makes it a must-listen for history enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
Short doses of unfamiliar history
For someone not very familiar with the Ottoman Empire, I appreciate the obvious time put into each and every episode. The extensive research involved is apparent and appreciated as a listener. Episodes are not extremely long so you can grab a dose of history during a busy day. Frank’s voice is calming and perfect for a...
