Yet another source extract.

These daily blogs are super fun for me write. It's something I greatly look forward to when I get up in the morning in my half-dazed pre-coffee state. A wonderful start to a new day. It also serves the purpose of permeant marker of source materials, subject, places, and concepts which I plan on working into the Ottoman Empire Podcast. So I'd like to introduce the epic tome "A Peace to End all Peace" by David Fromkin.

Concerning the cease fire of the First World War..

"The Armistice conference opens at 9:30 in the morning on Sunday, 27 October 1918, aboard the Agamemnon, British battleship at anchor off the port of Madras on the Greek island of Lemnos. The Small Ottoman delegation was headed by Townshend's friend Rauf Bey, the new minister of the Marine. The British delegation as headed by Admiral Calthorpe.

Calthorpe showed the Ottoman delegation a letter he had received from Vice-Admiral Jean F. C. Amen, the senior French naval officer in the area, stating his government's desire that he should participate in the negotiations. Heh promised to attend the meetings aboard the Agamemnon as the representative of Vice-Admiral Dominique M. Gauchet, the Allied naval commander-in-chief in the Mediterranean and, as such, Calthorpe's superior officer"

What follows is Fromkin taking a detailed deep dive into the final years of the Ottoman Empire as it was fighting for its very existence. This will come in handy later in the series as we approach the final end of the Sublime Ottoman State.
