When researching Episode 25 which covers the Conquest (or Fall if you're a Byzantine fan club member) I've found EXTENSIVE primary research from Uyar & Erickson to be of utmost help. A brief glance at their Bibliography section shows a mastery of Old Ottoman Turkish language, French, Italian, and Latin (not to mention of course modern Turkish) and some Arab sources.

The authors were instrumental in part 2 of Episode 25 when I was detailing the Ottoman army which showed up outside the Constantinople Walls of 1453. Uyar and Erickson go IN DEPTH in the specific Ottoman forces and units, commanders, logistics and use both surviving Ottoman and Byzantine sources. This book has given my podcast a level of detail not otherwise possible. I will undoubtedly be having more to say on the subject in the future because this book will be with the podcast for the foreseeable future. Do yourself a favor and give it a try.
Thanks and I look forward to jumping back on the Podcast!
